I seem to think that getting life insurance for children is good but my mom disagrees. Can you give me some advantages of why I should?

There are a lot of disagreements that usually occur when parents think of getting life insurance for children. Some people argue that an insurance policy should only be for people who have dependents, making it quite unusual for parents to get one for their children. This is, of course, looking at insurance in the old-fashioned way. As you know, insurances were designed so that a person may leave something for his family or loved ones when he dies.

However, the insurance that we know now have evolved to include other aspects, particularly that of future savings and educational funds. Many insurers have even designed their educational plans to include life plans. Of course, you can put money in the bank and let it grow over the years. This is more traditional and safer. But an insurance policy provides more in the long run compared to a savings account. There are many life insurance for children that can be made into endowments, which can then be used for their college education. In essence, the parents is simply saving for the child’s future while giving him a life plan. Meaning, when he becomes old enough to start his own family, he has one less thing to worry. He is secured that his family will have something when he suddenly dies. It’s like a gift for him too.

Moreover, getting life insurance for children is a good idea especially when the family has a history of diseases that may pass on to the child in later years. To eliminate the risk of the child becoming uninsurable in the future, getting one when he is young and healthy is a good idea. It may seem morbid to some to get an insurance for a child but it is actually very practical and thoughtful for the parents to do so.
